Work tackling addiction to drugs has been boosted by the
Scottish executive in an 80 per cent increase in funding to the
Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF) over the next three years.
The executive announced the increase following a review of the
SDF’s priorities, and launch of an action plan for
2002–05. Funding will now increase to £290,000 per
annum.
Now SDF’s main activities will include encouraging
communities to engage in tackling drug misuse at the grass roots
level; developing and promoting employment services for drug users;
providing an effective voice for its member organisations; and
involving drug users in the planning and decision making
process.
