Rules for the registration and de-registration
of social care workers in England are to go out to
consultation.
The
General Social Care Council is looking for feedback on draft rules
for its proposed new register and system of conduct hearings. The
rules set out how social care workers can join the register and the
process for being suspended or struck off.
As
part of the consultation, the GSCC will be seeking views and advice
from other professional workforce regulators, social care
organisations and key stakeholders.
Registration of the estimated 1.2
million social care workers in England will start next year with
qualified social workers.
The
GSCC was set up last October to establish the register, produce
codes of practice for social care workers and employers and
regulate social work training.
The
consultation runs from 24 June until 9 September.
