Homes policy detail yet to emerge

Deputy prime minister John Prescott has yet to
specify how many of the new 200,000 homes in the South East will be
“affordable” or what proportion will be allocated for key workers,
although it had been signalled that this information would be made
available.

The
omission comes in the face of promises in the spending review that
key workers, including social workers, will benefit from an
additional £1.5bn of funding for housing.

Funding had previously been
allocated for 10,000 key workers. Nurses, teachers and police
officers benefited most. Just 389 places have been allocated so far
to others.
