Hull social services budgets slashed

Social services budgets at Hull Council will be cut by 10 per
cent over the next two years under plans to rescue the council from
its financial crisis.

The Audit Commission asked the government this week to take over
the running of the authority following a report which said the
council spent 18 per cent above the standard spending assessment in
2000-1.
