Children’s trust pilots up for grabs

A prospectus on the government’s plans for children’s trusts was
expected to be distributed to local authorities and voluntary
organisations by the end of December.

Produced jointly by the Department for Education and Skills and the
Department of Health, it will invite expressions of interest in
piloting the trusts, which will be responsible for commissioning or
providing a wide range of children’s services.

It is understood that children’s trusts will be piloted in 14
councils starting late next year, although the government denies
that it has any figure in mind. Expressions of interest are already
thought to run well into double figures.
