Hackney tenants not informed of policy

Supported housing tenants in Hackney, east London, complained last
week that they had not been informed about the government’s new
single-stream funding regime for supported housing in time for its
introduction on 1 April.

At a meeting last week, tenants said they did not understand the
impending changes. Geraldine O’Hanlon, Hackney Council’s tenant
involvement officer for supported housing, said: “Service providers
have a good knowledge of what Supporting People is but tenants
don’t. We had this meeting because we wanted to improve knowledge
by encouraging participation.”
