Next year’s money will help avoid cuts

Local authorities finding it difficult to reduce their initial
Supporting People spending will be able to use next year’s funding
to fill any gaps in service provision, the government has
said.

The government agreed to the change to the new single stream for
supported housing – which comes into force this week – after
councils complained about government plans to force them to reduce
the amount they spend on the programme within its first year of
operation by an average of 2 per cent.
