Vulnerable older people in Scotland are not receiving adequate
protection, the charity Action on Elder Abuse has warned.
The charity is urging politicians to commit to introducing
legislation for the protection of vulnerable adults at the
elections in May.
Chief executive Gary Fitzgerald highlighted how the situation in
Scotland differs to that elsewhere: “At present Scotland is
the only country in the UK, which does not have these strategies in
place. The reality of this is that currently older Scots are denied
the level of protection that they would receive if they lived in
England or Wales.”
The charity has written to members of the Scottish parliament
and intends to highlight the responses.
