Data to be shared across services

Families of disabled children with special educational needs will
no longer have to repeat their details to a range of professionals
working in different areas, under new government guidelines.

The three sets of linked guidelines, published by the government in
association with disability charities Scope and the RNID, encourage
professionals to be more sensitive to families’ needs by
co-ordinating health, education and social services so that data
held by each service can be shared.

They also aim to strengthen the partnership between parents and
service providers to aid early identification of needs, and include
specific sections on the best way to provide support to deaf and
disabled children.
