Prisons meet with inspectors’ favour

Parc Prison, which holds young offenders and remanded juveniles, is
a safe prison poised to move forward and extend its role in south
Wales, according to a new Prisons Inspectorate report.

But chief inspector Anne Owers warned that, while there was some
excellent work being carried out, staffing levels remained low and
a strategy and structure for resettlement needed to be
developed.

Meanwhile, Northallerton Young Offenders Institution in North
Yorkshire was praised for retaining most of the good practice
identified in its last inspection and for rectifying most of the
poor practice.
