An inquiry into child abuse allegations against a former drama
teacher at a school in south Wales, resumed last week.
The Clywch or Listening inquiry, chaired by children’s commissioner
for Wales Peter Clarke, was set up to look at how the allegations
against the late John Owen were handled by professionals.
Owen was accused of sexually abusing boys in his care while
teaching drama at Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen, near Pontypridd, but
killed himself just before he was due to stand trial in 2001.
The inquiry began in March last year and is due to close next
month.
