Tameside increases fees and bonuses

Tameside Council has increased its basic fees to care homes and
intends to raise the financial bonuses given to superior quality
homes.

Weekly fees for residential care have gone up from £265 to
£279, nursing care from £379 to £390, and care for
the elderly and mentally ill from £400 to £412.

The council currently offers an extra £5 per bed per week as a
bonus for homes that achieve a list of quality indicators which
include room size and training. These “quality premiums” are set to
increase to £10 per bed in 2004-5 and £15 in 2005-6, and
the indicators will be made more challenging.
