Denise Platt has been appointed as the shadow chair of the new
Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI).
She will give up her current jobs as chief inspector of social
services and director of children, older people and social care
services at the department of health.
Platt, who will start the new job on 1 July, was given the
role by the NHS Appointments Commission. Part of her role wil be to
advise health secretary Alan Milburn on the setting up of the
CSCI.
The CSCI is due to become operational in April next year taking
over the duties of the National Care Standards Commission and the
Social Services Inspectorate, as well as the joint review team.
