Childminder “buddies” to recruit others

A pilot scheme to encourage more parents to set themselves up as
self-employed childminders has been launched by the government.

Under the scheme existing registered childminders will recruit
new childminders, and help them register and set up in
business.

The buddying scheme will be piloted in London, Birmingham.
Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds this year, to be extended to all
local authorities next April.
