Guardians warn of mass exodus

An exodus of children’s guardians is likely, putting at risk many
vulnerable children, the national association of children’s
guardians Nagalro has warned.

A survey by the association warns that, since the establishment of
the Children and Family Courts Advisory and Support Service in
2001, many guardians have chosen to reduce the time they spend in
the role and many others are moving out of the field
altogether.

It predicts that guardians will continue to leave unless there is a
major shift towards a more child-centred management culture, led by
professional values.
