Young people in the Clifton area of Nottingham could be fined
£2,500 and imprisoned for three months for persistently
breaking a night-time curfew.
Under the scheme – the first of its kind in England – police can
use powers under the Antisocial Behaviour Act 2003 to remove any
children under 16 found in the Clifton area between 9pm and 6am and
return them to their homes.
Groups of two or more people who may be causing distress or
harassing the public can be dispersed by officers and prohibited
from returning to the area for 24 hours. Flouting of the rules
could lead to arrest, fines and jail.
