Forum set up to help black youth

A black youth justice forum was launched by the National
Association of Youth Justice at its annual conference last
week.

The forum was set up to address the over-representation of black
children in the youth justice system and the issues that face black
staff. It will provide a forum for practitioners, regardless of
ethnic origin, to share concerns.

A recent Youth Justice Board study found that almost a quarter of
black and mixed parentage boys were remanded into custody compared
with 8 per cent of white boys.
