Local authorities have not had clear enough guidance on how to
manage their relationship with New Deal for Communities projects,
MPs said last week.
Some councils offered no professional support and advice while
others used excessive scrutiny, the public accounts committee
found.
Chief executive of South Kilburn NDC Jack Davies said: “There is a
high correlation between the success of an NDC and its relationship
with the local authority. We in South Kilburn have an excellent
relationship with Brent Council, both politically and
corporately.”
The committee concludes that the £2bn flagship regeneration
programme is showing signs of success.
