Efficiency teams swoop on councils

Efficiency teams are to visit councils this week to improve the
quality of services for vulnerable adults and to deliver
savings.

The teams will focus on how care services for adults are
commissioned and delivered by local councils and new ways to
configure, procure and deliver efficient care services.

Working with service users and providers, the NHS and councils, the
teams will explore how social services can learn from other
industries and share examples of best practice.

Social care minister Stephen Ladyman said the move was part of Sir
Peter Gershon’s plans to release £6.45bn to local government
within three years, but insisted there would be no
“one-size-fits-all solutions”.

The programme will contribute to the development of Ladyman’s
vision for adult social care.
