Suffolk shops around for carers

Unwitting shoppers could soon be accosted by eager recruiters
from Suffolk Council in a drive to find more home carers.

Recruiters will target potential candidates in unusual
locations, such as supermarkets, with the promise of increased pay
rates and travel payments.

Suffolk hopes the new drive will help to speed transfer of care
from hospital to home for many vulnerable or sick people after
identifying a “severe” delay in discharges.

It is looking for people of different ages and a range of
backgrounds, including retired people and mothers with school-age
children.
