Councils say budget to be cut by quarter

The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities has warned that the
distribution mechanism for Supporting People money over the next
three years will have a “devastating” impact on some
councils.

Spokesperson for social work and health improvement Eric Jackson
said nine councils would be hit by cuts of over 25 per cent.

He said: “As this announcement does not contain any allowance for
inflation over the spending review period the real cuts for the
worst affected councils will be significantly more than the
executive’s estimates.”
