Students told to move quickly on registration

The General Social Care Council is urging the 4,000 students about
to graduate from social work courses to start applying for
registration.

Graduates will have to be registered before they can take up job
offers, and the GSCC says students should request application packs
now.

The full £30 application fee applies and tutors can act as
verifiers and endorsers.

From the autumn, the register will also open to 4,000 students
entering their final year in 2005-6 and 4,500 enrolling for the
first time on social work courses.

The registration fee is £10 for students.
