Blunkett kicks off pensions debate

David Blunkett today kicked off the first debate around pensions
alongside pensions minister Stephen Timms, writes Clare
Jerrom.

Forty members of the local community in east London met the work
and pensions secretary and minister to discuss how best to
establish a consensus that would provide stability, certainty and
fairness in the pensions system.

Blunkett said: “I want to reach out to people, to take the
public into our confidence. To debate, listen and share the
problems and ensure we have all ownership and understanding of the
possible solutions.”
