Residential social care should be made an additional priority in
developing the children’s workforce, according to the body in
charge of driving the reforms.
The Children’s Workforce Development Council said children’s
residential care was characterised by “recruitment difficulties,
qualification targets not met, low morale and high staff
turnover”.
It made the recommendation in its response to a government
consultation on the children’s workforce strategy, which said the
early years and foster care sectors should be the priority for
reforms.
