Suicide more common on Mondays

Monday is the most common day that people commit suicide,
according to research published today by the Office for National
Statistics, writes Clare Jerrom.

The research also found however that the most suicides occurred on
Saturday 1 January 2000 which suggest that suicide is related to
the effect of beginning a new time period.

The study also found that, among males, accidental drug related
poisoning deaths and those due to drug abuse increased over the
week and peaked on Saturday.
