Delegates cool on single inspection body

A single inspection agency covering the entire Scottish social
care sector would be too difficult to implement, regulators and
service providers have said.

Annie Gunner, director of Community Care Providers Scotland,
which is campaigning for more joined-up regulation, pointed out
that each regulator had a different focus.

Jacqui Roberts, chief executive of the Care Commission, said
there were many ways of joining up different agencies’ work without
having one organisation.

“One agency would have a hell of a task: we would still be
planning it in 10 years’ time because of the large number of
regulations it would have to deal with,” she added.
