A cross-government body to reduce inequalities faced by disabled people has been launched.
The Office for Disability Issues, which was trailed in a report from the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit in January, aims to ensure disabled people are a priority across government.
Where services have been disjointed and have presented barriers to disabled people, the office will try to ensure departments work together and with disabled people to resolve the problems.
It will also develop a national forum for organisations of disabled people and establish a task force for independent living.
