NOMS head appointed

Helen Edwards bodytextHelen Edwards has been appointed as the director general of the National Offender Management Service, it was announced today.

She has been acting chief executive of NOMS since her predecessor Martin Narey left to head up children’s charity Barnardo’s in November last year.

Edwards, who originally trained as a social worker, previously worked as director of the Home Office Communities Group and had an 18-year career with criminal justice charity NACRO.

In 2001, she received a CBE in recognition of her services to offenders.
