Call to limit work to accredited staff

The British Association of Social Workers has written to the UK’s social work regulators asking for their views on whether professionals should have to be accredited by regulators to take on child protection cases.

The move comes after BASW members passed a motion at its AGM last week urging UK policymakers to legislate on the issue.

This follows concerns that some staff taking on child protection cases are inadequately qualified and inexperienced.
