Wales

In Wales there were 19,831 (WTE) social services staff in March 2005, which was 2.3 per cent up on September 2004. Three-quarters of social services staff were full time and four out of five were female.

There were 2,586 social workers of whom 96 per cent had required qualifications. While 23 per cent of 1,039 social work assistants or trainees had required qualification.
