David Jones named as president

The International Federation of Social Workers this week named David N Jones as its new president.

Jones, who has just finished a secondment from the Commission for Social Care Inspection to the Department of Health, will hold the post for the next four years. He will combine the role with part-time inspection of children’s services for CSCI.

Jones, who was previously senior vice president and European president of IFSW, said he wanted the organisation to promote social work around the world.

He said social work was increasingly connected globally, whether through the movement of workers or child abuse cases such as the death of Victoria Climbié.
