Kent partnership to build 350 flats

More than 350 flats for older and vulnerable people are to be built in Kent in a £72m private finance initiative project.

The Better Homes, Active Lives project, a partnership between Kent Council and 10 district or borough councils in the county, will be one of the biggest social housing PFI schemes in the UK.

Accommodation and support provider Housing 21 has been chosen as the preferred bidder and will lead the project. The flats are expected to open by 2010.
