Councils and housing associations encouraged to work together

A national protocol encouraging local authorities and housing associations to work together more closely has been signed by the Local Government Association and Housing Corporation.

Under the agreement the two agencies will work together to promote local partnerships to prevent and tackle homelessness and improve the delivery of housing benefit.

They will also co-operate in ensuring planning services prioritise the building of new affordable homes.

Equivalent local protocols with the Housing Corporation have been signed by Derby Council and Blackpool Council.
