Who has influenced you the most?
When I was diagnosed HIV positive I visited the Rodin museum in Paris and felt so strongly about his sculptures I wanted to make art.

Denise Flowers, specialist care manager for HIV at Richmond Council.

What would make your life better?
Moving to another house.

What three words best describe you?
Sympathetic, compassionate, fun.

What event most changed your life?
Being diagnosed with HIV in 1991.

Who/what is your dream date?
An evening with Spanish director Pedro Almodovar in Madrid.

How would you spend a lottery win?
Buy a nice flat in Hampstead, London.

What is your greatest achievement?
Helping my family cope with my diagnosis.

When and where did you have most fun?
I’ve had a lot of fun in a lot of places!

What makes you angry?
When people are intolerant with those who are powerless.

What is your favourite expression?
Live and let live.

Who do you most admire?
Nelson Mandela for teaching us the wonderful lesson of forgiveness.

How would you like to be remembered?
As someone who loved his friends.

Your most important lesson?
It is very difficult to change anyone.
