Quicker access to benefits for disabled people in Scotland under pilot electronic scheme

Disabled people should have quicker access to benefits under a pilot in Scotland launched today which enables GPs to send information electronically.

Under the plan, doctors will be able to send information electronically on disability living allowance and attendance allowance claimants to benefits staff to speed up claims.

The pilot will encompass 94 practices in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Lothian and the Forth Valley, and if successful will be extended across Scotland and to other benefits.
