IT systems must not be seen as a “panacea” for communication problems between social care professionals, delegates at Community Care Live Adult Care Services were told yesterday.
Helen Dent, chief executive of the Family Welfare Association, said that social care professionals had to ensure they were not over reliant on IT systems.
The FWA had raised concerns about too much focus being placed on ITC systems when the Children Act 2004 was published, she added.
“The point we have made about the Children Act is that IT is an important detail but actually it will not save children’s lives.”
