Question from Community Care: Domestic violence and the work of the Clermont Child Protection Unit’s Living Without Violence Programme

Domestic violence and the work of the Clermont Child Protection Unit’s Living Without Violence Programme

by Andy Cook and Tony Flynn

* If the man has completed the treatment programme but the woman has not accessed any parallel support services or engaged in any therapeutic/treatment work would it be appropriate to offer couple work? What would inform your thinking about this?

* As solution focused practitioners we struggle with the issue of whether it is possible to move forwards without first looking backwards, especially around issues of intimacy and how this has been compromised by violence. What do you think?

* How do you think the couple work we have described differs from traditional therapeutic couple work?
