Drugs service FRANK review finds high level of awareness

Just over two-thirds of young people and half of parents are aware of FRANK, the government-funded national drugs information service.

Just over a quarter of young people also said that they were “very likely” to call the FRANK service’s helpline and 88 per cent of callers rated it very good or excellent.

The findings came in a review of the service’s performance during 2004-6. The review was carried out on behalf of its service users.

FRANK offers confidential advice on drugs, 24 hours a day throughout the year, over the phone or online.

Its plans for the future include getting more drug action teams to support the service and attracting new stakeholders.
