Swindon People First, part of the national service-user led network for people with learning difficulties, has closed because of a lack of funds.
Swindon Council said the organisation was unable to secure enough funding to carry out all their activities.
Graham Pearson, director of adult social care at Swindon Borough Council, said the council and Swindon primary care trust had commissioned an independent project to advise the council and the learning disability partnership board on how it could strengthen service user involvement.
Swindon People First had previously been commissioned by the council in activities including developing self-advocacy for people with a learning disability.
Guy Bourlet, from Swindon People First, said he wanted to thank everyone who had supported the organisation.
