Prisoner’s families in the North East lack support, report finds

Prisoner’s families in the North East are missing out on support because there are not enough quality services, according to a report out today.

While there some good practice, services are “few and desperately need improving”, the report by the Northern Rock Foundation says.

It calls for more support for the voluntary and community sector to help prisoners maintain relationships with their families and enable families to have “meaningful and stress-free” prison visits.
