On the Move

Ann Keen has been given responsibility for health services, including children’s health services and maternity. The MP for Brentford and Isleworth has a background in nursing and was formerly parliamentary private secretary to Frank Dobson at the Department of Health.

The former paymaster general, Dawn Primarolo, has been made public health minister. Her responsibilities include children’s public health; health improvement national programmes on alcohol, drugs and drug treatment, obesity, and sexual health; and the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence.

David Hawker, director of children’s services for Brighton & Hove Council, has been appointed deputy chief executive of Westminster Council. Hawker has headed education in Brighton for the past eight years and will take up his new post in October.

Look Ahead Housing and Care has appointed Sheena Field as its first social inclusion manager. The new post will involve working across all of the organisation’s services. Before Joining Look Ahead, Field was a regeneration manager at North Devon Homes. She is also trainer for the Suzy Lamplugh Trust.

Manchester Council has appointed John Edwards to the post of deputy director of children’s services for the city. Prreviously he spent four years at Wakefield Council, where he was service director for schools and lifelong learning.
