Twins Sam and Amanda come second in Big Brother finale

Twin social work students Sam and Amanda Marchant came second in the Big Brother 8 final on Friday night with 39.7% of the total vote.

The “twincredible” sisters lost out to Brian Belo who won the series with 60.3% of the vote.

The Marchants made Big Brother history by being the first set of twins to enter the house, and managed to avoid nomination for eviction throughout the 13-week show.

When asked by host Davina McCall if they thought the experience had changed people’s perspective of them, they replied “Deffo!”.

The twins’ presence on Big Brother has triggered fervent debate among Community Care readers about its impact on the image of social work. Before entering the house, Amanda had rated politics and depressed people as two things she disliked.

Community Care readers decided by a margin of more than two to one to boot them out of the Big Brother house for crimes against social work.
