Claire Foreman has been appointed head of community care at Isle of Wight Council. Foreman, who has been interim head for a year, has been credited with turning round adult social care on budget and improving performance.
The Commission for Equality and Human Rights has unveiled six members of its disability committee. They are: Saghir Alam, a lawyer and a former DRC commissioner leading on partnership and capacity building; Alun Davies, care planning manager in adult social services and housing at North Somerset District Council; Andrew Lee, director of self-advocacy organisation People First; Dianne Mulligan, an employment consultant helping businesses to develop a more diverse workforce; Liz Sayce, director of disability charity Radar and Michael Smith, director of policy and compliance for Price Waterhouse Coopers and chair of Tower Hamlets Coalition of Disabled People
