A General Social Care Council conduct committee has barred a convicted rapist from Essex from practising as a social worker, following a hearing last week.
Mncedisi V Apleni, 48, was jailed for four-and-a-half years at Inner London Crown Court in January for raping a woman while driving her home from a party.
The GSCC committee found Apleni’s offence was compounded by his initial denial to investigating officers and to the court itself.
