Short Breaks Pathfinder for Disabled Children Norfolk County Council, NHS Norfolk and NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney

Expressions of interest are invited from organisations with suitablee experience to develop short break provision for disabled children in Norfolk. The programme is a joint venture between Norfolk County Council, NHS Norfolk and NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

Short breaks come in all shapes and sizes and give disabled children and young people enjoyable experiences away from their primary carers, thereby contributing to their personal and social development and reducing social isolation. They also give parents and families a necessary and valuable break from caring responsibilities. They can last anything from a few hours to a weekend or longer.

We are looking to develop a range of services which will complement our existing provision, focusing on areas where current provision is sparse geographically, specifically Watton, Downham Market, Swaffham, Fakenham, Thetford and Kings Lynn. We are particularly but not exclusively interested in breaks for children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, challenging behaviour and complex health needs.

For an informal discussion, please telephone 01603 714185 or email shortbreaks.pathfinder@norfolk.gov.uk. Otherwise written expressions of interest should be sent to: The Short Breaks Pathfinder Team, Progress House, Plantation Park, Plantation Road, Blofield NR13 4PL
