Mother arrested after six-week old being monitored by social services dies

A mother has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her six-week-old baby girl as a serious case review was launched into the child’s care.

The girl, who was deemed vulnerable by social services, died on arrival at hospital after her father carried her into a GP surgery on Wednesday afternoon.

It was disclosed on Thursday that the child’s welfare was being monitored by officials because she was deemed at risk of harm, abuse or neglect.

Battered tot pair walk free from court

A couple suspected of leaving a ten-week-old boy with brain damage have walked free – due to a legal loophole.
The baby, named as Child A, will need round-the-clock care for life after he was left blind and with broken ribs, skull, shoulders and legs.

Heartless Chantelle Raschid, 20, and boyfriend Nicholas Muhanza, 22, were looking after him at the time. But it could not be proved who inflicted the horrific wounds.
