Personalisation and personal assistants

The London boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest are working in partnership to commission one or a consortium of organisations to provide across the four Boroughs services associated with the new ‘personal assistant’ market opening up as a result of personalisation and individual budgets. We would anticipate amongst those interested in exploring this further would be the third sector and organisations exploring social enterprise ventures in this arena.

The brief for the services to be provided is being developed but is likely to include the holding of a database and the vetting, accreditation and training of personal assistants and a ‘matchmaking’ service putting service users in need of care and support and personal assistants together. It is envisaged thatorganisations would need to be able to demonstrate the ability to make the service sustainable and commercially viable after an initial period of investment by the Boroughs.

Interested organisations are invited to attend an open day being held to explore relevant issues and to establish via preliminary enquiries what the market might offer.

Date: Monday 27th July 2009 10.00am – 2.00pm (lunch will be provided)

Venue: King George Conference & Banqueting Centre, Holiday Inn Express, 713 Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park IG2 7RH

Please contact Annie Powell (details below) to reserve your place(s).
