An inquiry into the future of social care services has been set up by a panel of MPs in response to the recent publication of the adult care green paper.
The Department of Health’s Shaping the Future of Care Together green paper sets out the options for reform of the social care system, including the possibility of setting up a state insurance scheme to fund services.
The House of Commons select committee on health will now look at future funding of long-term residential and domiciliary care as well as the personalisation of social care services.
Social care organisations and experts have been invited to submit written evidence to the committee before the deadline, 1 October 2009. The first meeting has yet to be announced.
