CO53: Provision of substance misuse treatment for young people

Birmingham City Council invites organisations to make an application to be considered for inclusion on a select list of tenderers for the provision of Tier 3 Substance Misuse Treatment for Young People. The prospective supplier will deliver a substance misuse programme for young people within the Birmingham area.Organisations must have an understanding of the ‘Every Child Matters’ Government outcomes framework, including Youth Justice – The Next Steps, the NTA framework ‘Effectiveness of Substance Misuse Services for Young People’ and the HAS Report ‘The Substance of Young Needs’ as well as having considerable experience of working with young people involved in substance misuse.

The successful organisation must be able to demonstrate that it can provide evidence of their partnership working within the context of Health and Social Care Services and Youth Justice Services. They should be able to provide sufficiently qualified substance misuse workers with experience of working in a multi-disciplinary setting with the skills to deliver appropriate treatment interventions to young people as well as working with their families.

The contract is due to commence on 1st July, 2010 and run for a period of 3 years.

The contract value is approximately £1.9 m over the total contract period.
