Scarborough care funding cuts concerns

A freeze on any financial increases in social care fees could lead to older and vulnerable people in Scarborough suffering in the future, according to a care group.

The Independent Care Group (York and North Yorkshire) has warned potential cuts on funding by North Yorkshire County Council and Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare Primary Care Trust could lead to falling standards.

Swine flu leads to social worker’s death

The family of a bright and bubbly Norfolk woman who died from complications brought on by swine flu say they cannot imagine life without her.

Alison Beales, of North Walsham, was struck down by the illness on New Year’s Eve and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital a couple of days later when her sugar levels rocketed.
